Week of Jan 12

We had a great start to our week as we made puffy paint melted snowman based off the book "Sneezy the Snowman." The students got to help make the puffy paint which is equal parts white glue and shaving cream. We had a blast mixing this together and then, because it was difficult to spread with a brush, we actually got to spread it around and make melted snowmen with our hands.

We continued with a shaving cream theme and on Tuesday we made the letter 8 in shaving cream. This provided tons of giggles as many students used their fingers instead of the paint brushes. The classroom smelled amazing lol.

The Blackfalds Bulldogs came on Wednesday morning and played with us during our centre/free play time. The bulldogs had as much funs as the kids in the construction centre!

We started our UFLI reading program and are working on mastering the sounds /a/ and /m/, segmenting (breaking words into sounds) and blending (taking sounds and putting together to make words). The students are very good at segmenting into sounds right off the hop! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication in ensuring each student knows the sounds the letters make as I contribute this knowledge to their amazing success. Blending sounds is trickier and a new concept, but so far they are rocking this new skills.

On Friday the morning class had gym inside, while on Tuesday the afternoon class had extra time outside for gym as we took advantage of the nice weather.
