I want to thank all of you for coming to Parent Teacher interviews! It was wonderful to meet you again as our first introductions were so short.
We had a great week playing in the snow! A few of the older kids had made some giant snowballs for us to push around during our daily recess and we had great time using our big muscles to move these in between the playground equipment. Unfortunately they were to heavy to lift to make a snowman but that didn't stop us from all working together and trying.
We had new Star Students this week so we practiced learning and writing the letters in their name, we also discussed what makes the star student a good friend. I create some beautiful word art out of these statements and put them in your child's Kindergarten Keepsake book.
We are working through our sorting unit and now that our fine motor muscles are strong and ready we have been putting some of our activities into our math books. Keep practicing cutting skills with your child reminding them that their thumb stays on top and their elbows have to stay in (no chicken wings!)
Crazy hair day was a hit! There were so many creative hair-do's, you guys really out-did yourselves. Our classmate Emmett even made his name have some crazy hair during our daily check in.
We have moved to the lined side of our whiteboards and are practicing making our numbers within the lines. This requires students to move from writing at the elbow and wrist towards more precision movements of writing with the fingers. For many students this can be a tricky transition so we will work on this from now until June.
We have been practicing our Christmas Concert song everyday! And we can't wait to show the Reindeer Pokey on December 9th. We will be decorating antlers later this week or on Monday next week.
I told the kids I would remind everyone that the CP Rail holiday train makes it's way through Blackfalds on Monday December 8th, some of the students remember going last year and are very excited to share this experience with friends.
Have a wonderful week!
