I have to say—I missed all of you over the strike, and it has been so wonderful to see the beautiful, eager faces back in the classroom this week. We’ve had such a fun and exciting few days, filled with games, learning, and of course, a little bit of Halloween magic!
We kicked the week off with a fun game called True or Trick. Students had to decide if a statement was true (stand up) or a trick (sit down). They did an amazing job listening carefully and participating, and we had so much fun playing together.
In Language Arts, we started learning about the parts of a book—a skill that will help prepare us to become great readers. The students were curious, engaged, and excited to explore the titles, covers, and pages of our classroom books. We read some spooky books such as Creepy Underwear, and some silly books such as A Spoonful of Frogs.
On Thursday, we put on our science hats for a very special pumpkin exploration! We investigated a variety of pumpkins—one looked like a mushroom, and another was bumpy all over! Students described and drew their pumpkins, measured them, tested whether they would sink or float in water, and even cut them open to examine the seeds. It was such a hands-on, exciting way to learn about science and nature.
Finally, the long-awaited Halloween day arrived! Ms. Kel-Cie made a huge container of slime for us to explore, we played some spooky Halloween games, and we even opened the doors between my classroom and Ms. Yvonne's Kindergarten classroom so the students could explore both spaces. I can confidently say this Halloween was a huge hit!
It has been such a joyful and energetic week, and I am so grateful for the chance to spend time with your wonderful children. Their curiosity, excitement, and kindness make our classroom a truly special place.
Thank you for sharing your amazing kids with me—I can’t wait to see what next week brings!
